Reporting to the Director of Risk & Compliance, the Head of Compliance is responsible for the overall compliance framework and will drive compliance monitoring across the policy areas. Certain areas, such as Data Protection and Financial Services and Payments, sit outside the responsibilities of the Head of Compliance. The role holder will also provide information to the Senior Management Team in respect to Three’s compliance with the policies defined.

Job Purpose 


Lead the team to define. develop and deliver the policies and frameworks required to enable the effective implementation of the business strategy. Oversee Compliance and Compliance Monitoring activities and challenge the business to uphold the best interests of Three. Develop and maintain deep expertise to provide the business guidance and practical recommendations in order to deliver a best in class Compliance function which adds value to the business.  


Responsibilities 

Client & Customer Management (External) 

Manages key client and customer relationships, typically by using account teams to ensure their ongoing satisfaction and loyalty toward the organisation. 

 

Budgeting & Costing 

Develops and/or delivers budget plans for own area with guidance from senior colleagues. 

 

Leadership and Direction 

Develops and/or delivers a plan for a specific area of responsibility by managing others. 

 

Performance Management 

Takes responsibility for implement a team's performance management systems with guidance from senior colleagues. 

 

Strategic Planning 

Takes responsibility for developing and delivering an approach to strategic planning for a key part of the organisation. 

 

Regulatory Affairs 

Manages the provision of a significant regulatory affairs speciality within the organisation. 

 

Needs Assessment 

Builds complex frameworks to fully assess the scope and context of short-term and long-term business needs. 

 

Audit 

Manages the development and/or delivery of a significant element of the organisation's audit systems. 

 

Compliance 

Takes responsibility for developing and implementing compliance policies for a broad area within the organisation.

 

Solutions Analysis 

Develops innovative solutions by integrating and analysing complex and diverse information sources. 

 

Policy Development & Implementation 

Participates in developing policies for area of responsibility, creating underlying procedures and monitoring their implementation within the organisation.

Uses comprehensive knowledge and skills to work independently while providing guidance and training to others on developing appropriate plans or performing necessary actions based on recommendations and requirements.

Applies comprehensive knowledge and skills to work independently while providing guidance and training to others on reviewing and creating relevant, lucid and effective reports. 

 

Compliance 

Applies expertise to serve as the organisational authority on achieving full compliance with applicable rules and regulations in management and/or operations. 

 

Risk Management 

Applies expertise to act as the organisational authority on identifying, assessing, prioritising and managing risks in a production process. 

 

Policy and Regulation 

Acts as the organisational authority and established expert on interpreting and applying knowledge of laws, regulations and policies in area of expertise. 

 

Policy and procedures 

Uses expertise to act as the organisational authority on developing, monitoring, interpreting and understanding policies and procedures, while making sure they match organisational strategies and objectives. 


  • Extensive experience in a similar role at leadership level
  • Demonstrates strong people management skills
  • A natural influencer at all levels - up to C suite
  • Strategic thinker with ability to link business strategy to compliance initiatives
  • Broad knowledge of regulation authorities, ideally including OFCOM although not essential
  • Ability to build complex frameworks to assess scope of business needs
  • Strong commercial acumen
  • Demonstrates agile behaviours, can prioritise effectively and adapt quickly in a fast-paced changing environment
  • Collaboration is key to be successful in a role at Three
