The Senior UK Government Affairs Manager is responsible for managing the public policy, regulatory agenda and political engagement across Westminster, Scottish Government, Welsh Assembly and Northern Ireland Executive, local Government and is responsible for ensuring that Three is a well-respected and trusted partner to help the business achieve our commercial goals.

The individual will be a trusted contact and go-to expert for key decision makers and other relevant stakeholders, thus educating policy makers and shaping opinion. This will ensure a best possible outcome for Three to help it achieve it’s commercial aims.

The role holder must ensure that Three’s interests are well-represented in all relevant industry organisations and a leading voice within the telecoms sector. It is imperative we seek to shape industry strategy in line with our commercial priorities.

  • Lead drafting and implementation of the UK government affairs strategy; contribute to strategic discussions and planning of activities in the UK
  • Ensure that Three’s views are understood and recognised by the UK Government and Scottish Parliament, Welsh Assembly, N.I. Executive and local Government
  • Gather and analyse public policy decisions, including identification of emerging regulatory challenges and opportunities, that have possible future strategic implications and commercial risks; ensure relevant stakeholders at Group and the business have advanced knowledge of upcoming Government issues
  • Lead Three’s responses to Government consultations – contribute and manage the preparation of responses to UK consultations relating to telecoms and infrastructure
  • Lead board correspondence and engagement with political stakeholders across UK Government, Scottish Parliament, Welsh Assembly, N.I. Executive and local Government
  • Lead representative for Three UK on relevant trade associations and business organisations.
  • Lead external agencies and political consultants including management of the UK public affairs agency.

  • The ability to build and maintain relationships with key decision-makers and other key stakeholders in the UK regulatory framework; drive and undertake pro-active and direct engagement with authorities and key political stakeholders on all relevant issues;
  • Lead representative for Three UK on relevant trade associations and business organisations.
  • Experience of leading external agencies and political consultants including management of the UK public affairs agency.
  • Ability to deputise for Head Government Affairs both externally and internally.
  • Experience of educating policy makers and shaping opinion.
  • Strategic in approach with the ability to influence others.
