• Accountable that all infrastructure supporting IDU services are reliable, scalable, and secure, by demonstrating exceptional expertise in some or all of IT, OSS, RAN, Core and Transport. We are looking for an Engineering Specialist with experience in developing processes, tools, and automation in distributed systems suitable for production environments. Working closely with partners and Leads from GTL and IDU to manage bespoke solutions in support of numerous disclosure and regulatory obligations the Infrastructure team will form a key part of this high volume, high complexity environment.
• Describe the accountability level and contribution of the position to achieve the overall results of the function/business.
• Accountable for leading a team of Government Infrastructure Specialists, coaching, guiding and upskilling them in new technologies and techniques
• Steer roadmap execution to ensure service operability by defining requirements and break down into incremental value-added deliveries ensuring business continuity
• Accountability for the reliability of our IDU assets - identify, manage and resolve dependencies and risks
• Decide on priorities to optimize the evolution steps needed – influencing and directing partners and suppliers as well as operational peers in GTL and IDU
• Ownership of Service success through the lifecycle by ensuring what needs to be monitored and act upon performance indicators which reflects experience and stability.

• Practice sustainable incident response and blameless post mortems on services focused on improving the availability, scalability, latency, security and efficiency of our internal or customer-facing services
• Power in defining process and best practices for reliable and timely delivery of quality products
• Engage in and improve the whole lifecycle of a platform from inception and design, through deployment, operation and refinement.
• Own and govern a routine of high-quality housekeeping and maintenance
• Ensure vendor recommended software, firmware and security patching are maintained.
• Work with Service Management teams for problem and risk management.
• Aid partners in maintaining systems once they are live by measuring and monitoring availability, performance and experience of overall system health through preventative maintenance.
• Scale systems sustainably through mechanisms like automation and evolve systems by pushing for changes that improve reliability and efficiency.

• Ability to complete and maintain a high level of UK Security Clearance
• Must be UK National
• Must be UK based (combination of remote working and office based in South of UK)
• Must have exceptional IT, Radio or Core Network Operations experience with Design background
• Must have very strong ITIL based service management experience

• Understanding of telco network services: radio, IP transport, core network, cloud and virtualisation.
• Understanding of basic Internet infrastructure services including DNS, DHCP, LDAP, server virtualization, server monitoring, cloud services, containerisation.
• Demonstrated history in automating and improving operations processes via services and tools.
• Knowledge of continuous integration, testing methodologies, CSI, TDD and Agile development methodologies with operations.
