Company Description

We are a team of 24 dedicated to the financial management of the Technology division, which is responsible for the management and development of our IT systems, mobile network and new technologies; as well as incorporating the fixed asset and cashflow teams

We are looking for a proactive, ambitious and delivery focused individual who wishes to grow and develop their finance, business partnering and reporting skills.  The successful candidate will provide effective and timely financial reporting support, including insightful analysis on key capex spend, monthly accounting and reporting, budgeting and forecasting reporting, project support and decision support to key business and finance stakeholders.


Job Description

This exciting role will enable you to further develop your financial analysis, relationship building and presentation skills, while providing guidance and key insights to capex decision makers, and the finance management team.  Your key contributions will help to ensure our financial targets are achieved. 

It is not essential for you to be studying for or hold an accounting qualification. It is necessary for you to have finance experience as well as experience analysing large amounts of data, creating effective outputs and storytelling.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Month end Capex management accounting and reporting activities, including accruals, detailed review and analysis of key spend areas and the production and presentation of insightful reporting, with assistance and support from a Senior Finance Analyst.
  • Working with the Senior Finance Analysts and the business to prepare specific Capex budgeting and quarterly forecasting, ensuring a detailed understanding of the cost increases/decreases and full year variances, for presentation to the Technology finance leadership
  • Building and maintaining key relationships with specific Capex business owners, finance teams and cross-functional teams
  • Support the business in reflecting any change requirements (approval flows, finance structures etc), and ensuring continuous improvement in finance processes and reporting
  • Assisting/working closely with the Networks and IT/Tech Services consulting teams with analysis and query resolution
  • Preparation of Finance updates for the Portfolio Control Group and business partnering the Portfolio and Change Office on the overall meeting inputs
  • Ownership and updating of Decommissioning project trackers/financial position and business partnering the key business stakeholder for decommissioning
  • Preparation of project related asset reporting key KPIs for review with the project community
  • Assisting and covering other analyst roles at times of high demand/leave cover
  • Proactively seeking out potential problems before they become an issue and putting in place solutions.
  • Continuous review and improvement of data quality and reporting outputs

Qualifications

  • Excellent MS Excel skills (including filters, pivot tables, lookups and charts).
  • Experience creating reporting/dashboards and working with large datasets
  • Good Word and PowerPoint skills.
  • Able to prioritise and deliver high quality/accurate/timely reporting.
  • Strong accounting and reporting skills with great attention to detail.
  • Ability to work flexibly in a demand-led, rapid-change environment.

Additional Information

  • A performance based annual bonus & an additional 'flexible allowance' to spend on additional benefits, topping up your pension, or to be added to your salary.
  • The starting salary for this role is £27,760.
  • Hybrid working between your home (2-3 days a week) and our brand new Reading HQ office at Green Park (2-3 days a week)

At Three we have a hybrid working arrangement in place as standard for office based employees, where employees work from a mix of office based location and working from their home in the UK to carry on their role.

Excluding retail, our core hours at Three are between 10:00 and 16:00, with operating hours between 08:00 & 18:30. This allows employees to have a start time between 08:00 and 10:00 and finish time between 16:00 and 18:30.
