Company Description

You must be a UK National, and be capable of achieving high level of UK security clearance.

Context and Purpose

Three are transforming our business and we are creating a new team to ensure compliance with Government requirements and provide and assure other value-add services to Government stakeholders.  As a member of a Government-focused technical team, and the wider Technical Security Assurance family at Three, you will be central to our success, taking responsibility and accountability for provision of Government technical support services on network infrastructure on a 24x7 basis, whilst providing technical subject matter expertise on the delivery and integration of any changes to those services. This includes the identification and capture of requirements, engagement with stakeholders, and ensuring that solutions are delivered in compliance and that their effectiveness is maintained in an ever-changing threat environment, ultimately helping to save lives.

Scope 

You will take the lead on provision of government technical support services on network infrastructure on a 24x7 basis, whilst providing technical subject matter expertise on the delivery and integration of any changes to those services.  You will ensure the reliability of government services by identification, management and resolution of dependencies and risks.

To be successful in this role, you will work with colleagues in the Information Disclosure Unit, teams from Design, Delivery and Operations, maintaining and enhancing Three UK’s contribution to national security, as we continuously improve Government capabilities.

  • A positive attitude and personally motivated to continually learn new, emerging security principles and practices which can be applied to the business.

Job Description

  • Cover 24/7 On call rota as part of a team of support specialists.  (1 in 3, or as agreed.)
  • Install and maintain IDU network infrastructure and provide support to the IDU team.
  • Govern changes by Three’s Service Partners to ensure IDU capabilities are not impacted.
  • Maintain GTL capability through change due to new Three and Home Office deliveries.
  • Engage in and improve the whole lifecycle of a platform from inception and design, through deployment, operation and refinement.
  • Aid partners in maintaining systems once they are live by measuring and monitoring availability, performance and experience of overall system health through preventative maintenance.
  • Scale systems sustainably through mechanisms like automation and evolve systems by pushing for changes that improve reliability and utility.
  • Assess project security compliance and risks against UK Govt security controls. 
  • Review and assess infrastructure and application designs for compliance. 
  • Assist projects in achieving the necessary degree of compliance. 
  • Discover pragmatic solutions that balance business and security needs. 
  • Make, aid and inform infrastructure and application design decisions from a security point of view in conjunction with SME teams. 

 


Qualifications

  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, building strong relationships with project staff, technical teams and Government stakeholders.
  • Understand and assure infrastructure and application designs and identify security challenges, threats and risks in new project proposals and changes. 
  • Proven understanding of architecture and security controls in one or more of the following areas: 
    • network infrastructure (IP network experience is required) (mobile or telco desirable) 
    • systems infrastructure (Microsoft/Unix/Virtualisation/Cloud/IaaS) 
    • web and application 
  • Identify business and security risks and discuss risk treatment options with project stakeholders and SME teams. 
  • Making accurate and independent analytical judgments regarding security design decisions. 
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments and manage security and penetration testing.

At Three we have a hybrid working arrangement in place as standard for office based employees, where employees work from a mix of office based location and working from their home in the UK to carry on their role.

Excluding retail, our core hours at Three are between 10:00 and 16:00, with operating hours between 08:00 & 18:30. This allows employees to have a start time between 08:00 and 10:00 and finish time between 16:00 and 18:30.
