Company Description

The role will manage and lead the Security Operations Physical Security function, delivering a range of physical security related services to the business under the direction of the Head of Information Security Operations.
The role has direct line manager responsibility for a team of physical security specialists who provide:

  • Proactive physical security related advice and consultancy across Three UK’s Data Centres, Corporate Office locations and Retail Stores, to ensure an appropriate level of physical protection for Three UK assets and for the protection and safety of our employees.
  • Physical security related initiatives for the improvement of Three UK’s security posture; in response to changing business requirements; or to counter persistent threats; against Three UK assets and/or employees.
  • Reactive response to physical security related incidents, 24/7/365.
  • Appropriate assistance to all other business areas and functions as required.
  • Oversight and governance of physical security related third-party suppliers, in particular: oversight of MBNL and the security of the RAN estate; and the security monitoring and response services provided to Retail.
  • Liaison with appropriate external agencies such as NCSC, CPNI and law enforcement.
  • Reporting and mitigation of physical security related risks.

The Physical Security Operations Lead is responsible for the management and delivery of these services.


Job Description

  • Lead and manage the Security Operations Physical Security Team and deliver its associated services.
  • Responsible for defining and maintaining the minimum physical security standard across Three UK’s estates as part of the Three Security Framework.
  • Ensuring the appropriate countermeasures across Three’s estates that are aligned to the Three UK security framework and standards; and enabling their implementation where required.
  • Defining, planning, and driving physical security related initiatives to improve Three UK’s security posture, reducing risks to the business and protecting our staff
  • Countering physical threats to company assets and personnel, which includes providing proactive and reactive physical security services in relation to Three UK’s Data Centres, Corporate Offices, RAN and Retail estates.
  • Governance and audit of the physical security of infrastructure including compliance with relevant legislation and organisational policies; and identification, escalation, and mitigation of physical security risks.
  • Investigation of physical security or criminal incidents, or non-compliance with relevant legislation and organisational policies.
  • Responsible for ensuring minimum standards are maintained or non-compliance is captured, escalated, and the associated risks are managed appropriately.
  • Responsible for responding to alerts, supporting, and investigating incidents or breaches, on a 24/7 basis via an on-call system, and recommending actions and follow up with stakeholders as necessary to ensure risks are appropriately mitigated.
  • Ensuring that all requests for physical security support are dealt with according to agreed procedures and SLAs. 
  • Providing guidance to define physical access rights and privileges and deliver regular audit reporting against physical security controls.
  • Works with partners to ensure: access to premises, buildings and areas is justified, authorised, logged and monitored automatically; physical security is continuously tested, reviewed and improved; all physical assets are configured and maintained consistently with both regular and day-to-day business requirements, temporary or emergency business requirements.
  • Ensures all physical assets are supported, licensed, and maintained in line with obligations and agreements with suppliers.
  • Effective management of external partners and internal teams to deliver the Physical Security services.
  • Ensure Team processes are effective, efficient, and properly documented.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrable experience of providing Physical Security within large scale organisations covering all types of facilities used in Telecommunications e.g., Radio access sites, retail units, data centres and head offices.
  • Demonstrable understanding of physical security standards / guidelines e.g., NIST, ISO27001, CPNI.
  • Specialist knowledge required for the role includes an understanding of relevant physical security standards, regulations, frameworks, controls, and processes, and best or good practices. 
  • Will be able to demonstrate the ability to make recommendations and implement physical security countermeasures and improvements aligned to organisational strategies.
  • Will be able to understand and analyse the data and insights in their area to support management and leadership teams to make effective and informed decisions.
  • Appropriately and effectively prioritise work based on risk, urgency, time, cost, and quality etc.
  • Experience of working and governing third-party suppliers / partners at an operational level, to ensure contractual obligations are met.
  • Experience of working with and influencing various levels of management, building relationships and influence across teams and a wider community of other leaders and managers. A clear communicator with good senior stakeholder management.

At Three we have a hybrid working arrangement in place as standard for office based employees, where employees work from a mix of office based location and working from their home in the UK to carry on their role.

Excluding retail, our core hours at Three are between 10:00 and 16:00, with operating hours between 08:00 & 18:30. This allows employees to have a start time between 08:00 and 10:00 and finish time between 16:00 and 18:30.
