Job Description

The role is a senior role within the Core Transport team in Three UK, which is responsible for providing subject matter expertise, leadership and guidance to business units across Three’s Network and Enterprise domains to enable the business to deliver its outcomes in a secure manner, building customer trust in a reliable network which matches the best, whilst ensuring compliance to regulatory requirements, company policy and standards.

In this role you will have a broad and challenging remit, you will therefore need to be flexible and agile in your approach, switching between different security disciplines within the team as necessary. You will be engaging in the delivery of multiple business initiatives by introducing baseline and enhanced security requirements and supporting their implementation through guidance and advice. You will also be recommending network security solutions and then providing design input and technical approvals, assurances, and governance of deliveries that the project carries out with our colleagues and partners. Within the Core Transport team itself, as a senior member you will be expected to support the wider team by providing technical expertise and guidance, improving technical security standards, patterns and the team processes, as well as supporting the leadership team with resource and budget planning.

You will be working with colleagues and partners to deliver Three’s outcomes and you will need to be able to successfully challenge and govern partner activities and have an awareness of partner contracts.

What you will be doing in the role.

  • Responsible for managing a team of 3-5 Technical Authorities in Network Security Infrastructure domain.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance of financial and commercial requirements for the domain.
  • Responsible for defining and managing budgets for the domain.
  • Responsible for providing delivery leadership for the domain, resolving complex problems and ensuring the domain services are delivered to agreed Time, Cost and Quality KPIS.
  • Responsible for leading the delivery planning, risk and issue management.
  • Responsible for developing and ensuring availability of adequate supply-chain required to design, build, test, deliver and operate the domain services.
  • Responsible for managing senior stakeholders and internal/external communications. Responsible for liaising with the industry, other MNOs and support regulatory compliances.
  • Responsible for mobilising delivery of new contracts/initiatives and leading sizable direct and virtual teams.
  • Ensure the delivery of the solutions conforms to contractual outcomes and timescales
  • Support the Programme and Project Manager in project planning, risk and issue management and the budgeting process
  • Providing network security leadership to ensure that security requirements and outcomes are defined and considered throughout the lifecycle of projects from conception to operation.
  • Collaborate closely with a broad range of stakeholders across the business and be able to articulate the security vision, principles and governance/assurance standards for security consultants and solution architects within Three and our partners.
  • Provide effective governance and assurance of security deliverables by our partners and internal teams within Three, where necessary also supporting security consultants and solution architects through review and approvals.
  • Ensure that there is effective capacity management and planning in place for the security services and solutions assigned to you and ensure that the solution is incorporated into the 18-month technical and budget roadmap for capacity expansion and service improvement.
  • Support the leadership team in reporting, and roadmap and resource planning.

Qualifications

The type of person we are looking for.

  • Extensive experience in line management/people management, setting up team and individual goals and development plan.
  • A track record of delivering +£20m annual budget projects, leading cross functional teams of +30 people.
  • Managing similar network deployment and delivery team, leading group of Network Security Authorities and Deployment Managers to achieve the business outcome.
  • Must be able to lead the design and review of secure system architectures using or developing patterns and principles, where necessary challenging to create precedents and set direction.
  • Must be able to work at multiple levels within the organisation from technical delivery to senior management.
  • Must have a strong knowledge of system architectures and be able to understand and articulate the impact of vulnerabilities on existing and future designs and systems, and how easy or difficult it will be to exploit these vulnerabilities.
  • Demonstrable experience of providing delivery guidelines, decision making and problem-solving leadership for a deployment domain and can demonstrate setting delivery direction and quality/ standards for delivery team.
  • Strong analysis skills both business and technical.
  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate with multiple stakeholders within the organisation to act as the liaison between the business, other technical or deployment communities, and the 3rd party delivery teams to ensure the delivery of the business requirements. This should include the ability to convert business requirements into a deployment solution and vice versa.
  • Knowledge of ITIL or similar frameworks for delivery into Operational environments.
  • Must be well versed in the application of security policies and standards, governance, compliance, risk management and technical assurance practices.
  • Must have expertise and experience in one or more of the following technical domains:
    • Cloud/Hybrid security
    • Infrastructure and data centre security
    • Network security
    • Application security
    • Identity and access management
    • Vulnerability Management
  • Must have experience of documenting and implementing processes, procedures and architecture/design/decision templates required to structure and govern an architecture, design and delivery lifecycle.
  • Must have experience working at pace within a complex operational environment / large organisation.

  • Salary range for this role start's at £82,400, the exact salary will differ by job and experience.

At Three we have a hybrid working arrangement in place as standard for office based employees, where employees work from a mix of office based location and working from their home in the UK to carry on their role.

Excluding retail, our core hours at Three are between 10:00 and 16:00, with operating hours between 08:00 & 18:30. This allows employees to have a start time between 08:00 and 10:00 and finish time between 16:00 and 18:30.
