Company Description

 

This role is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in supporting Three’s sub brand, SMARTY.  The role is fast paced and require you to be innovative and highly collaborative. You will be at the heart of the business and seen as a leader, not just within Finance. You will be across all areas of SMARTY and seen as the “go to” finance business partner to provide commercial insight, support trading initiatives & finance control to develop the commercial framework to achieve SMARTYs financial objectives. You will have sound commercial understanding to be able to drive business investment decisions and influence key revenue streams & control costs (both OPEX & CAPEX). 


You will be expected to input into a wide range of commercial initiatives such as assessing new revenue streams (examples are Indirect Growth and supporting partner negotiations) and play a key role to launch new customer propositions and the SMARTY app as the business looks to grow to over 1.3m in 2024.


You will also lead a team of 2 senior finance analysts, providing coaching and supporting their development.  This role is also fully integrated within the wider SMARTY team.


Job Description

Responsibilities
•    Fully embedded member of the SMARTY leadership team providing financial advice and implementing robust financial controls
•    Take responsibility for a robust governance process to ensure all trading initiatives follow a strict governance framework and have appropriate approval
•    Maturing SMARTY’s financial processes, models and ways of working as the business grows
•    Lead projects and project teams to deliver required outcomes outside of financial remit
•    Lead, develop and inspire a team of 2 highly skilled analysts who are focused, and outcome driven
•    Play a key leadership role across CFO, SMARTY and Commercial Finance

Commercial Finance
•    Overall responsibility of the SMARTY P&L, Balance sheet and CAPEX budget. Implement and develop best in class commercial frameworks to deliver profitable growth
•    Ensure robust modelling applied to all new business initiatives, providing clarity to internal & external stakeholders, identifying risks and providing clear recommendations.
•    Tightly manage CAPEX budget and overall governance of new deals and in life commercial changes. Ensure follows a standard process to make it an efficient process and easily communicated to Stakeholder
•    Manage the SMARTY OPEX and CAPEX budgets, work closely with the budget holders to validate advertising and acquisition costs, tight cost management to budget targets and embed culture of timely and accurate reporting to give stakeholder visibility and ownership of their costs
•    Support commercial negotiations w/ 3rd parties on new revenue streams
•    Challenge the existing cost structure and arrange supplier deals to lower the cost base with support from Procurement
•    Identify any risks to a revenue and costs and develop a mitigation plan with the SMARTY General Manager
•    Keep up to date with the fast-paced changing Telecoms market conditions to ensure that commercial principles are still appropriate to the market

Reporting and Financial Control
•    Commercial deals across New business are correctly captured and reported from a finance point of view
•    Own and lead the budgeting and quarterly forecasting process and ensure 5 year plan commitments are achieved.
•    Ensure processes and financial governance are fit for a growing business
•    Implementation, maintaining and supporting Purchase Order Trackers
•    Undertaking business case reviews and implementing
•    Ownership of balance sheet for SMARTY, monthly call out of risks and opportunities


Qualifications

•    Proven people leadership experience. Competent in planning, managing and organising resources within short/medium timescales within the overall policy framework.
•    Strong business partnering skills used to effectively manage and influence senior stakeholders with strong commercial acumen to identify key business drivers and trends
•    Strong commercial acumen, using insight and experience to make balanced and effective decisions.
•    Experience in establishing and maintaining long term relationships with commercial counterparts internal and external
•    5 years + Qualified accountant.

At Three we have a hybrid working arrangement in place as standard for office based employees, where employees work from a mix of office based location and working from their home in the UK to carry on their role.

Excluding retail, core hours at Three are between 10:00 and 16:00, with operating hours between 08:00 & 18:30. This allows employees to have a start time between 08:00 and 10:00 and finish time between 16:00 and 18:30.
